Record Store Day: Brand Awareness

Starting in April of 2008, Record Store Day was created to celebrate independent record stores and promote the artists that make them special. Since its debut, the streaming world has exponentially grown far past the sales of physical music. While artists make $0.00318 per stream on Spotify and $0.008 per stream on Apple Music, physical record sales often earn artists $1-2 per record sold. By directly reflecting to fans how much it takes smaller artists to earn a living and donating a portion of the funds from RSD to MusiCares, both the record store and the artist will both continue to thrive. Ditch the digital & buy physical to support your favorite artist.

To further promote the physical sale of music, RSD has planned concerts in three separate record stores across the US to garner more attention. These concerts also come attached to exclusive vinyl collections in collaboration between RSD and Nardwuar, The Human Serviette (an interviewer infamous in the music community for his in-depth questions and rapport with artists).

As one of the sponsors for Record Store Day 2026, Schlitz Lager is donating money to MusiCares, providing free beer and coasters for the concertgoers, and creating a Liquid Record filled with Schlitz Lager that’s filled with hits from the 1960s.

Record Dividers provided to the record stores where the exclusive vinyl collections are available for purchase to further push the importance of each artist and the record stores that distribute their music.

Funds Counter that tracks the money donated to MusiCares from Schlitz Lager, records sold, and concert tickets from Record Store Day 2026 provides a tangible example of how physical record sales can help your favorite artist.
